Project Overview

BUILDING THE FOUNDATION BEFORE LAUNCH.

My work with Kelsie B Photography + Artistry focused on the early creative and strategic development of the business. During the pre launch stage, I establish its visual identity through multiple logo concepts while also contributing to the broader direction of the brand. I developed a marketing plan designed around future visibility and client acquisition and previously supported the business planning process by helping organize ideas surrounding the concept, services and potential growth. The project gave me hands on experience developing the foundation of a creative business from an early stage idea.

What this case study includes

Completed / Developed Brand + Business Strategy Positioning, audience, service presentation, customer experience and business growth thinking developed during the concept stage.
Planned Pre Launch Go To Market System A structured pre launch marketing plan designed to build awareness, generate inquiries and create a repeatable path from discovery to booking.

01 / Brand Foundation

BRAND IDENTITY DEVELOPMENT

I developed two logo directions for the photography business, helping translate the developing concept into a recognizable visual identity. The goal was to create a stronger foundation for how the brand could present itself across future customer touchpoints and promotional materials.

  • Two original logo concepts
  • Visual identity exploration
  • Brand presentation direction
  • Creative concept development
  • Logo refinement and visual decision making
PRIMARY LOGO DEVELOPMENT

Brand Kit Framework

BUILDING THE LOGO INTO A BRAND SYSTEM.

Beyond the selected logo direction, I developed the framework for how the identity could stay consistent across future brand touchpoints. The system considered typography, color, photography direction, messaging, logo usage and practical applications so the identity could operate as more than a standalone mark.

01 Logo Usage Defined how the primary mark should function across digital, promotional and client facing uses while protecting readability and consistency.
02 Typography Direction Established a direction for pairing expressive editorial typography with clean supporting type to balance artistry with professionalism.
03 Color Direction Developed a restrained visual direction designed to keep the photography central while giving the brand a polished and recognizable presentation.
04 Image Style Outlined how portfolio imagery, crops, editing and presentation could work together so the visual identity remained cohesive across platforms.
05 Brand Voice Created a communication direction centered on polished, creative and approachable messaging for service descriptions, social content and client communication.
06 Applications Mapped how the identity could translate into social templates, service materials, booking touchpoints, web presentation and future promotional pieces.
02 / Positioning

CREATIVE DIRECTION + POSITIONING

Beyond the logo itself, I contributed to conversations around how the developing studio could position and present itself as a photography brand. This included helping shape the overall creative direction and thinking through how the visual identity, services and future marketing could work together as one cohesive concept.

  • Creative direction development
  • Brand positioning conversations
  • Visual direction and concept planning
  • Brand presentation
  • Connecting brand identity with future marketing

03 / Pre Launch Marketing Blueprint

MARKETING + LAUNCH STRATEGY

The plan I developed was designed to make launch day the result of several weeks of audience education and demand building, not the first time people heard about the business. The objective was to create a clear path from discovery to trust, from trust to inquiry, and from each completed client experience to the next referral.

Planned 01 / Clarify Build the offer before promoting it Define the brand promise, ideal client, core services, price entry points, booking expectations and the reason a client should choose this studio instead of simply comparing photographers by price.
Planned 02 / Prime Create demand before launch day Use teaser content, portfolio proof, behind the scenes storytelling, founder led brand context and an early interest list so the audience already understands the offer before booking officially opens.
Planned 03 / Convert Turn attention into inquiries Create one clear path from social discovery to service education, inquiry and booking. Every launch asset would point toward the same conversion action instead of scattering attention across multiple calls to action.
Planned 04 / Compound Make every client feed the next sale Build post session follow up, reviews, referral prompts, client reposts and portfolio content into the operating system so completed shoots continuously generate social proof and future demand.

Audience Strategy

MARKET THE OUTCOME, NOT JUST THE CAMERA.

The pre launch strategy was designed around different reasons people hire a photographer. Instead of one generic message for everyone, the brand would speak to the result each audience actually wants: confidence, visibility or creative expression.

Audience 01 Personal + Lifestyle Clients Sell the feeling: polished memories, milestone imagery, confidence and an experience that makes the client feel taken care of from planning through delivery.
Audience 02 Brands + Entrepreneurs Sell the business result: professional visuals that strengthen credibility, improve content quality and give the client a bank of usable marketing assets.
Audience 03 Creative + Editorial Clients Sell the concept: stronger art direction, stylized imagery and a collaborative experience for clients who want something more distinctive than a standard session.

Inquiry Funnel

DESIGN THE PATH FROM “I LIKE THIS” TO “HOW DO I BOOK?”

The marketing plan treated social media as the top of a funnel, not the final destination. The goal was to move interested people through a simple sequence that answered the questions needed to make booking feel easy.

01 Discover Reels, searchable captions, local discovery, collaborations and shareable portfolio content.
02 Trust Portfolio proof, behind the scenes, testimonials, process education and clear brand positioning.
03 Consider Service menus, FAQs, session expectations, examples by service and transparent next steps.
04 Inquire One primary inquiry form with project type, desired date, goals and contact details.
05 Book + Refer Follow up, booking workflow, review request, referral prompt and client generated visibility.

Content Strategy

A CONTENT SYSTEM BUILT TO DO FIVE DIFFERENT JOBS.

Rather than posting only finished images, the content system would give each piece of content a role: attract, prove, educate, humanize or convert. That keeps the page visually strong while also moving the audience toward a business action.

01 Portfolio Proof Best work, before/after selects, campaign style carousels and service specific galleries that make the quality visible immediately.
02 Education What to wear, how to prepare, posing guidance, session planning and common booking questions to reduce hesitation.
03 Experience Behind the scenes content, client reactions, set preparation and process moments that communicate what working with the brand feels like.
04 Brand Story Founder perspective, creative philosophy and business values that give the audience a reason to remember the person behind the work.
05 Conversion Availability, service spotlights, inquiry prompts, launch announcements and booking reminders tied to one consistent CTA.

Four Week Pre Launch Sequence

BUILD INTEREST BEFORE ASKING FOR THE BOOKING.

Week 01 Introduce the point of view

Begin with visual identity, founder story, mood, values and the type of photography experience the brand wants to own. Goal: recognition before promotion.

Week 02 Prove the value

Lead with portfolio work, transformation, process and educational content. Introduce the major service categories without making every post feel like an advertisement.

Week 03 Build intent

Open an early interest list, publish FAQs, explain how booking will work and use polls/questions to identify the highest demand services before the public launch.

Week 04 Convert the attention

Launch with a coordinated announcement, pinned service content, direct inquiry CTA and limited founding client availability to create urgency without positioning the brand as discount first.

Acquisition + Measurement

THE PLAN WAS BUILT AROUND TRACKABLE BUSINESS SIGNALS.

The objective was not simply “post more.” Each channel would have a job, and performance would be evaluated by whether attention was turning into qualified interest, inquiries and bookings.

Acquisition Channels
  • Instagram + short form video: discovery, proof and social credibility.
  • Local search: Google Business Profile, location language and searchable service pages for high intent prospects.
  • Referral network: makeup artists, stylists, small businesses and complementary creative partners.
  • Email / early interest list: direct access to warm prospects before public booking announcements.
  • Client advocacy: reviews, tags, reposts and referral prompts after delivery.
Primary KPIs
  • Awareness: reach, profile visits, video completion and non follower discovery.
  • Intent: saves, shares, service page views, link clicks and early interest signups.
  • Lead quality: qualified inquiries by service type and desired booking window.
  • Conversion: inquiry to booking rate and the services producing the strongest demand.
  • Retention: reviews, repeat clients, referrals and usable client generated social proof.
04 / Business Development

BUSINESS PLANNING + DEVELOPMENT

I also supported the business during an earlier planning phase by helping organize and develop ideas surrounding the photography concept. This work gave me experience thinking beyond visual execution and considering how branding, services, marketing and business goals connect during the development of a creative venture.

  • Business plan support
  • Early stage concept development
  • Service and business idea organization
  • Creative business planning
  • Connecting marketing and brand strategy with business goals
